Secretary Burgum Event -- Meta Glasses -- Your News Here

Secretary Burgum LIVE

We’re just five days away from our first live event in partnership with Breitbart News and CGCN. This conversation between Breitbart’s Matthew Boyle and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum promises to be a can’t-miss discussion.

There are still some seats left, so if you’d like to attend please send an RSVP to [email protected] and further details will be provided.

(It’s recess, no excuses.)

Speaking of sit-downs, Boyle had an extensive conversation with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent yesterday where he mentioned the work Secretary Burgum and Energy Secretary Chris Wright are doing to expand America’s energy portfolio to help power America’s industrial and innovation growth.

Bessent has said that the United States is “going to monetize the asset side of the balance sheet for the American people,” and a few weeks ago we pointed to comments Secretary Burgum made that further articulates what that might look like when it comes to America’s resource abundance.

“We’re going to build that balance sheet, and we have trillions and trillions of dollars worth of natural resources, and we’re going to make sure that we understand that our assets far out-exceed the debt that we have”.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum

In Houston at CERAWeek, Secretary Burgum continued this theme saying, “If Interior was a company it would have the largest balance sheet in the world … We’re looking at the totality of our natural resources as national assets that must be sustainability developed to grow jobs and pay down our debt.”

Viewing America’s bounty as an opportunity to improve the lives of the American people, rather than a resource better off left untouched, is exactly the vision we need to realize the tremendous future in front of us.

This is the type of conversation we are looking forward to on Wednesday.

Your Next Pair of Sunglasses

This week, during a demonstration at lunch by our friend Richard Porter, we tried out the Meta | Ray Ban glasses. And it was one of those moments that opens your eyes to the rapid pace of innovation making life more convenient, productive, and enjoyable.

While the glasses have been out for nearly a year and a half, this was our first time trying them on. We haven’t seen many out in the wild—but if you ask us, there’s no reason they shouldn’t be your next pair of sunglasses.

They’re one of those products you don’t think you need—until you try them. Their utility hits you immediately. For instance, while coaching lacrosse this week, we used them to set a timer to manage drill time—without taking the stick out of our hand to fumble around with a phone.

You can take videos or pictures while still experiencing the event through your own eyes. And the sound quality for music and calls is amazing. To give you a sense of the picture it takes, here are some shots from Los Angeles yesterday.

(Your intrepid newsletter writer braved 60-mile-per-hour winds and pelting sand to capture these shots.)

Solicitation

Just like at the end of mass, when you’re ready to go and the priest heads to the lectern for final announcements, we too have a quick solicitation.

ALFA Field Notes were designed to highlight the innovations happening all around us and we want to help tell your story.

When we were on the Hill, we tried our best to chart our own information path. It was hard. Resources were limited and inevitably we’d be sucked into the crisis of the day, hour, or minute.

Field Notes is a growing platform of people that approach the future with a similar value and idea set, which makes it a great place to showcase your work.

So whether you’re a staffer or lawmaker introducing a new bill or organizing a hearing around an interesting proposal, a founder launching a new product or concept, or anyone in between who has a bold perspective to offer, consider ALFA a resource for sharing your news with the world.

Drop us a line at [email protected] at any time.

(Sorry, unlike mass, no doughnuts at the end.)

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend.
